ABOUT LILA HINDI PRAGYA

C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) has taken another giant leap in the field of Language Technology with the development of LILA Hindi PRAGYA, a self-learning Advanced Functional Hindi software package.

LILA Hindi PRAGYA has been jointly developed by C-DAC and The Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

LILA Hindi PRAGYA (Windows Version) is the third in the series of self-tutoring software for learning Hindi, the other two being LILA Hindi PRABODH, which bagged the year 2000 CSI-Infosys Award as the BEST Shrink-wrapped Software Product, and LILA Hindi PRAVEEN, which was recently released by Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Shri. L.K. Advani.

LILA Hindi PRAGYA focuses on advanced functional Hindi and facilitates in handling the professional, official correspondence and transactions in Hindi, used in the day-to-day functioning of Government organizations, corporate bodies and other professional departments.

SOFTWARE ADVANTAGE

The software is designed to enhance the users competence in drafting various types of official correspondence and texts, vis-à-vis noting, orders, memos, applications, circulars, notifications, reports, minutes, proceedings, requisitions, reminders, press releases and other communiqué in Hindi.

It also develops the users skill in the use of appropriate technical terms and expressions in Hindi. The text and narrative have been designed to provide relevant information about the office structure, office practices and procedures, government file system, work models, distribution of work amongst departments and sections and the different types of correspondence, forms and templates used in these offices.

PROSPECTIVE USERS

The package is targeted towards the employees of Government organizations and corporate bodies, who are required to be competent in functional Hindi. Teachers can also use this software as a supplementary aid to reduce the routine effort of administering and evaluating exercises, teaching grammar and narrating texts with standard pronunciations and intonation.

USER COMPETENCY

The user should have completed the PRAVEEN Hindi course or should have adequate working knowledge of spoken and written Hindi, which is almost equivalent to the level of PRAVEEN.

Individuals with an overall competency in Hindi but restricted by appropriate knowledge of the official forms, expressions and technical jargon of Hindi would find LILA Hindi PRAGYA most useful.
