COURSE STRUCTURE
The text used in the package
is based on the PRAGYA syllabus prescribed by the Department
of Official Language.
The
course material consists of 34 lessons and has been graded
into four parts:
- Language-based
Lessons (1-6)
- Drafting of Correspondence
(7-17)
- Noting in Hindi (8-33), and
- Samples of Official Forms and
Templates (34)
The package is supplemented
by a Glossary of English-Hindi Technical Terms and Expressions.
The medium of instruction is English.

SOFTWARE
FUNCTIONING
The technology used in
the package represents the latest in the multimedia language
self-tutoring system. An inbuilt audio-video interface integrated
with the Narrative section for lesson one to six displays
the text, its pronunciation and a video running adjacent
to the Hindi narrative text. The spoken sentences (whilst
the video file is running) are highlighted in the text,
facilitating correspondence between the text lines and the
spoken dialogues. The user can concurrently see the Hindi
narrative text and the video in a single window screen.
While listening to the standard pronunciation from the video
file, the learner can also make a note of the body language
and gestures used to enact a particular situation.
Audio
files have been incorporated from lessons seven to thirty
four to help the user be thorough in Hindi Drafting, samples
of Official Forms and Templates.
The 'Record and Compare'
utility within the package allows the user to record words
or sentences in his own voice and compare them with the
standard pronunciation rendered in the package. This helps
the user to practice and perfect the art of standard pronunciation.
All lessons are pedagogically
controlled and graded.
