LEAP OFFICE 2000, one of the simplest and the latest from the LEAP series of Indian language office automation software produced by C-DAC’s GIST, is powered with a number of efficient and user friendly tools while supporting the latest technologies. One of the salient features of this product is that the built–in software interface allows users to exchange E-mail/ Fax in Indian languages in a much simpler way than the previous versions of LEAP.

Using LEAP OFFICE 2000, the user can create his/her own Indian language web pages easily. Another special feature of the product is that it incorporates the HTML native format. This facility helps in opening and saving LEAP files as HTML files, thereby creating web pages for the user with greater ease. The facility of Hyperlink also helps in linking an email address, web pages and web sites in a LEAP document. In addition to the facility of an online keyboard, it supports Inscript, Phonetic typewriter and configurable keyboards. It also has Indian language synonym dictionaries, templates for office work, Indian language spellchecker and dictionary based words and phrase translation from English to Indian Languages. An efficient tool added in this version of the product is the search /replace and auto correction facility.

LEAP OFFICE 2000 facilitates the user to create SpreadSheets or PowerPoint presentations in Indian languages using interface tools and import it into a LEAP File. LEAP Office 2000 works on Assamese, Bengali, Devnagiri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu scripts. Using this, one can also work with MS Office, CorelDraw, PageMaker, Lotus Smart Suite etc. on platforms like Windows 95/98, NT and Novell NetWare.

LEAP OFFICE 2000 also works on Windows2000 and has an important advantage of having all the Indian Languages available with tools, inter-operability with various versions of Windows, data migration between various platforms and tools suitable for an office environment.

The software comes ready with all aesthetic fonts and more than 1000 Indianised cliparts in a CD media with a user guide supporting thirteen Indian languages.

LEAP OFFICE 2000 has a built-in independent word processor and provides a complete solution for Office functions, which supports multiple documents at a given time.

The proliferation of Indian Languages on the Internet has made it necessary to provide a common platform of fonts. LEAP OFFICE 2000 supports multiple standards such as ISCII, UNICODE, TamilNet and other customized formats like Winky (Shabdaratna), Akshar, Akruti, & ShreeLipi to enhance usage on the Internet by bringing different font codes on a common platform.
