C-DAC was awarded ‘The Best Reseller’ for the year 2000 by PCI Geomatics in the recently held sales meet from December 11-16-2000 at Canada.

PARAM 10000 for Roorkee, MNERC and IIT Mumbai

A PARAM 10000 with a 6.4 Gflops peak computing power was installed at the University of Roorkee, Roorkee, Motilal Nehru Regional Engineeering College (MNERC), Allahabad and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai recently. This installation was a part of the ongoing joint collaborative program sponsored by the Department of Information Technology and will be used by researchers and faculty members in the broad areas of science and technology. A workshop was conducted at each of the premier institutes, attended by a large number of prospective users and a close interaction with them through hands-on sessions was initiated.

 

C-DAC sets up Intranet for Pune Police Commissioner Office

C-DAC has set up a Local Area Network for the Pune Police Commissioner office. Offices of the Commissioner of Police, Addl. CP, DCP Crime, DCP Spl. Branch, ACP Admin & various branches are new connected using LAN. C-DAC has also setup Internet so that all the offices can access internet connectivity and E-mail through Local area Network ( Pune Police Intranet ). C-DAC has also assisted the Pune Police Department in the development of their website: www.punepolice.com

e-Governance Project from Karnataka Govt bagged

C-DAC has bagged a prestigious e-Governance project from the Government of Karnataka which includes computerizing 6 Municipal Corporations through Karnataka Urban Industrial Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC). The total outlay of the project is Rs.2.5 Crores. The Six Corporations included are Bangalore, Mysore, Managalore, Belgaum, Hubli, Dharwad and Gulbarga. To begin with, the project will cover seven modules and would cover the rest of the modules in the next phase. This phase includes property tax billing, water supply billing, HR issue of trade licence, issue of birth and death certificates etc. C-DAC expects to complete this phase in about 6 months.

 

Multimedia Conference

Shri Vinay Kohli, Secretary, Department of Information Technology inaugurated the National Conference on ‘Multimedia Technology for Culture’ organized by the National Multimedia Resource Centre (NMRC) of C-DAC and sponsored by the Department of Information Technology recently.

The conference aimed at seeking solutions to the technological challenges of preserving and promoting Indian culture using multimedia technologies and was addressed by experts from the field of multimedia and diverse related fields.

 

ISM2000 LAUNCHED

C-DAC announced the launch of ISM 2000 the multipurpose Indian Language Solution recently, to coincide with C-DAC’s participation in the IT World 2000 COMDEX event held in Delhi from Dec 6-9, 2000.

Using ISM2000, it is now possible to develop applications, in any Indian language using the PC. The Internet too does not remain an untouched domain, as it is available with a special set of fonts called web fonts for Windows based browsers.

 

 

C-DAC, designs network for Sales Tax Dept. Pune, the first IT enabled building of the Government of Maharashtra

C-DAC has been appointed as a consultant for the design of the Voice & Data Network for the Sales Tax Department, Pune and has designed the Voice & Data network for operations based on the Intelligent Building Concept. Already, work for the 3rd & 4th Floor is complete and operations have begun with State of Art communication and networking facilities.

 

C-DAC Launches - PWD Web site

C-DAC has designed and developed the Web site for the Public Works Department of the Government of the Maharashtra. The site would promote government to consumer, government to business and government to government activities. The site, launched by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Dr PC Alexander in the presence of Hob’ble Chief Minister Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh and other Ministers, gives detailed information of the public works department’s organisation structure, tour diary of Hon. Minister, ongoing projects, road safety measures, rest houses, parks and gardens, its computerisation programme, happenings, news, frequently asked questions, photo gallery and above all feedback to the site visitor. The PWD site provides online traffic status of Pune-Mumbai Highway ( Bor Ghat) and Mumbai-Agra Highway ( Kasara Ghat.)

The site also offers information related to quality control, registration procedure, district schedule rates, notice inviting tenders, list of registered contractors, day to day circulars and also provides e-mail services to its members. The site can be accessed at :

C-DAC at COMDEX

C-DAC participated in the IT World 2000 COMDEX held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi during Dec 6-9 2000. The event provided an opportunity for C-DACand it’s partners to showcase the GIST range of products and announce the launch of ISM 2000. The event was well attended and visitors evinced a keen interest in the GIST products on display.
