‘Secure’ with the C-DAC family

C-DAC’s unique tradition of nurturing its human resource, which is the backbone of the organization, is strengthened by the dedicated team of support members who quietly contribute to ensuring a seamless facilitation to its members.

Madhukar Bhosale, Senior Security Supervisor is one such member playing a crucial role in guiding, managing and supervising the security service at the C-DAC main building. Here is a first person account in which he reminisces about his career in C-DAC and prior.

I have dedicated three decades of my life to the Indian army. My earliest memories of the services goes back to the time when my father was a soldier in the ‘Azad Hind Sena’, which was the inspiration for me to join the army in 1951 as a G.D. Soldier. Since then, every moment of my life was a fighting moment. I have fought in all the three wars: 1962 against China, 1965 against Pakistan and the 1971 Bangladesh war. I am fortunate to find myself alive although I have seen a number of my colleagues lose their lives. As part of my assignments, I have lead a group of soldiers known as ‘Maratha Phaltan’, which in the 1965 war destroyed the Pakistani tanks and won a very crucial mission. My Group was presented the ‘Fighting Nineteen Maratha’ Award.

I have faced a number of difficult and challenging situations in my Army career. Every occasion was a new lesson to be remembered while facing the other one. It gave me the greatest joy, when in 1986 I was honored with an award at the hands of the Hon’ble President of India, Dr.R.Venkatraman, for my performance in the war and extraordinary dedication to the country. The highlight of my Army career was when, I , twice lead the team of NCC from Pune of the Maharashtra Division as an inspector for the Republic Day parade at New Delhi. I have also lead the NCC group for trekking between Srinagar to Usmark, which was very tough and challenging.

It was my dream to be able to use all the weapons during my tenure in the Army, which was fulfilled. However, I am now convinced that the greatest weapon is “Education” rather than the AK-47.

I retired in 1987 as SUB/MAJ/H/CAPTAIN from the Army and came back to civil life. Having spent 30 years in the Army, it was a big war to adjust to the civil culture.

From 1987 to 1990 I worked as Field Officer through M/s. Afexco Securities, with premier institutions such as IUCAA, TIFR, Vaikunth Mehta Institute, YASHADA. My services were honored by eminent personalities like Dr.Jayant Naralikar, Prof. Govind Swaroop and I also received the Best Supervisor Award from M/s. Afexco Securities.

In 1991 I joined C-DAC and supervised the security duties handling a variety of activities such as transport arrangements after office hours, attending to visitors, materials checking, inward/outward, telecommunication etc. My rich experience has helped in understanding and executing these activities in an efficient way. I have been supervising the hired security contract services of C-DAC and on certain occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, have been involved in their celebration.

I am lucky to be associated with C-DAC and am very happy with the concept of ‘C-DAC Family’ and to be a proud member of this unique family. It is my dream to see C-DAC as a champion of champions of Information Technology.
