3. Consultancy

CTSF's technical staff members having long experience in high performance computing are available for consultancy to Technical Affiliates on terms as mentioned in this booklet. In case of CTSF staff members traveling to Affiliate's site for consultancy, the affiliate will be charged for the traveling expenses incurred in addition to TA/DA as applicable.

4. Usage Charges

Only registered users can use the CTSF resources. A registered user is referred to as an Affiliate. The charges for the usage of different resources are given below.

 

4.1 CPU Time Charges

CPU time consumed will be charged in CPU minutes, i.e., number of minutes of CPU used. The charges will be as follows:

Re. 1.25 per CPU minute

Nodes can be allocated exclusively for an Affiliate in dedicated mode (normally nodes are used in shared mode by multiple users) on special request. In this case, the CPU time charge for the affiliate will be wall clock time in minutes for the duration of dedicated booking multiplied by number of nodes dedicated to the Affiliate multiplied by four (each node has 4 CPUs).

 

4.2 Login Time Charges
In addition to the CPU time consumed by an Affiliate's job, there is a separate charge for the duration for which an Affiliate remains logged in to PARAM Padma. The charges will be as follows :

Rs. 250 per hour

The granularity of accounting the login time is one hour and any time exceeding the previous one hour slot will be accounted as the next one hour for charging purpose. For calculating the total login charges, the time will be accumulated over a month, and restart thereafter with monthly billing.

 

4.3 Disk Usage Charges
Each Affiliate will be given 2 GB of hard disk space free of charge along with his/her account as soon as he/she is registered. Additional disk space in units of 100 MB can be allocated upon request (subject to availability) and the charges for extra disk space will be as follows:

Rs. 100 for 500 MB per week

 

4.4 Tape I/O Charges
Tape I/O facility is available on request for backup/restoration of data. The charges for this are as follows:

Rs. 250 per backup/restoration in single DAT/DLT media and Rs. 500 in case of LTO. Cost of the media and transportation will have to be borne by the Affiliate.

 

4.5 CD Burning Charges
The facility to burn CDs is available on request for backup of data. The charges for this are as follows :

Rs. 250 per CD (regular) burning and Rs. 3000 per DVD. This includes the cost of media, which will be supplied by C-DAC. CDs/DVDs brought by Affiliates will not be accepted for burning.

 

4.6 Console Usage Charges
If an Affiliate decides to come to C-DAC physically and work, he/she will be charged for the usage of console and infrastructure facilities of C-DAC as follows:

Rs. 100 per hour/console

5 GB of disk space will be provided to the Affiliate on the console machine for the duration of his/her working session. The granularity of accounting the console usage time is one hour and any time exceeding the previous one hour slot will be accounted as the next one hour for charging purpose.

 

4.7 Printing Charges

An Affiliate working within C-DAC premises can obtain a limited number of printouts (less than 100 pages) on C-DAC's laser printer at the following charges:

Rs. 5.00 per page single sided

Rs. 10.00 per page double sided

For printing requirements of more than 100 pages, an Affiliate must inform the SAG members at least 24 hours in advance. Printing charges will remain the same as above even for larger number of pages.

 

4.8 Providing a Secure Login via the Internet

In order to establish connectivity to the CTSF over the Internet, the Affiliate shall have to provide a Linux based host at their end. This Linux based host shall be configured as routers with an IP firewall, so as to provide effective security between the public and private networks. The Affiliate shall have to dedicate a public IP address to this host from their allocated pool of public IP addresses.

A secure login shell shall be provided to the Affiliate on the Linux based bastion host/gateway at C-DAC for the means of transferring data as well as for providing login access to the PARAM Padma.
