The Applied AI Group, C-DAC, Pune has organized a Seminar on September 19, 2007 titled "C-DAC's contribution in the area of Hindi Language Computing". The Seminar is inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Manik Rao H. Gavit, Honorable Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India. Smt. P. V. Valsala G. Kutty, Joint Secretary, Department of Official Language, MHA, GOI is the Special Guest for the seminar. Director-General, Director, Registrar, Program Co-ordinators, Group Co-ordinators and other senior members of C-DAC, Pune also participated in the Seminar.
C-DAC has many firsts to its credit and Language Computing is the area where the focus is to carry out Research and Development [R&D] which was initiated 16 years back for providing a platform enabling all kinds of functions, applications, tools, solutions and services in Indian Languages in today's IT driven era. These technologies developed over time to eliminate the language barriers and provide complete Indian Language solutions for usage of computers in Offices and day-to-day environments.
The seminar is organized to showcase and demonstrate the Hindi Language Computing products of C-DAC. Applied Artificial Intelligence [AAI] and Graphics and Intelligence based Script Technology [GIST] groups demonstrated their products, which include MANTRA-Rajbhasha, LILA-Rajbhasha, Shrutlekhan-Rajbhasha, Vachantar-Rajbhasha, ISM, Chitrankan, iLeap, LIPS and MoveCG among others. The theme of the Seminar was to emphasize on C-DAC's role and its contributions to the Hindi Language Computing and its proliferation in the country.
