Know Us
Established in March 1988 as a scientific society
of the Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology, Government of India, Centre for Development
of Advanced Computing, is primarily an R&D
institution involved in the design, development
and deployment of electronics and advanced Information
Technology (IT) products and solutions. C-DAC's
foray in the area of supercomputing based CFD
applications has a manifesto to develop port and
optimize codes on parallel computers.

| Zeus Numerix |
Zeus
Numerix started out as IITZeus in the 1990s as a
special interest informal group based in the Aerospace
Engineering Department in IIT Bombay. Actively involved
in research in CFD, CEM and related areas for the
past decade, it has undertaken many research &
development projects from government organizations
as well as consultancy projects from industry. IITZeus
has been innovating technology before its commercial
metamorphosis in 2004 to Zeus Numerix Pvt Ltd. Zeus
has developed several products like CFDTutor,
CFDExpert, CEMExpert. Besides CFD/CEM,
Zeus also provides consultancy in Dynamics, Controls
and Stability and coupled CFD/Dynamics problems.

| Synopsis |
As Modelling and Simulation
(M&S) is penetrating the aerospace sciences
at all levels, this two day course will introduce
you to the difficult subject of modeling aerospace
vehicles in six degrees of freedom (6 DoF). Starting
with the modern approach of tensors, the equations
of motion are derived and, after introducing coordinate
systems, they are expressed in matrices for compact
computer programming. Aircraft and missile prototypes
will exemplify 6 DoF aerodynamic modeling, rocket
and turbojet propulsion, actuating systems, autopilots,
guidance, and seekers. These subsystems will be
integrated step-by-step into full-up simulations.
|
| KEY TOPICS |
Introduction
to modelling with tensors
Kinematics and dynamics of 6 DoF aerospace vehicles
Modeling of aircraft and missile subsystems: aerodynamics,
propulsion, actuating, autopilots, guidance and
seekers
Demonstration of aircraft and missile 6 DoF simulations

| INSTRUCTOR |
Dr.
Peter Zipfel is an Adjunct Associated Professor
at the University of Florida and has taught courses
in M&S, Guidance & Control, and Flight Dynamics
for 25 years. His 40 years of M&S experience
was acquired at the German Helicopter Institute,
the U.S. Army and Air Force. He has given short
courses in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and France.
He is an AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics) Associate Fellow, serves on the
Editorial Board of the AIAA Progress in Astronautics
and Aeronautics Series, is a member of the AIAA
Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Committee and the AIAA
Professional Education Committee. His most recent
publications are all with AIAA. Textbook: Modeling
and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics,
2000; three Self-Study CDs: Building Aerospace
Simulations in C++, 2003; Fundamentals
of 6 DoF Aerospace Vehicle Simulation and Analysis
in FORTRAN and C++, 2005; and Advanced
6 DoF Aerospace Vehicle Simulation and Analysis
in C++, 2005.

| TARGET AUDIENCE |
This
course is valuable for engineers that employ, modify
or develop detailed aerospace vehicle simulations
and conduct performance evaluations. Some familiarity
with vehicle dynamics and control is assumed, but
no prior knowledge of simulations is required. To
execute and modify the provided source code, programming
experience in FORTRAN is desirable. Much of 6 DoF
M&S is closely guarded (proprietary) by industry.
This course will fill the need to make 6 DoF M&S
available to a broader audience (aerospace engineers
and students). It is based on Dr.
Zipfels book and the course he teaches
at the University of Florida. |
