With Information Systems (IS) being considered the lifeline of businesses in an increasingly connected world, their Audit and Control are becoming an essential part of large organizations particularly banks, financial institutions and public sector enterprises.

C-DAC's School of Advanced Computing (C-SAC), at the University of Mauritius, conducted a One-Day Workshop on Information Systems Audit and Control on May 22 and May 26, 2003 at La Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles.

The objective of the workshop was to enhance the understanding of IS Audit and Control mechanisms and to provide an insight into the best practises and the common pitfalls of IS.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sunil B. Bakshi, Chairman, Computer Society of India, Pune Chapter and covered key topics like:

• Security Infrastructure like Firewalls, Cryptology, PKI and Digital Signatures
  
• IS Audit Concepts and Implementation
  
• Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery Planning
  
• Computer Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques - CAATTs

The workshop was specially designed to address the needs of Internal Auditors, IT and IS Managers, System Administrators, Software Developers, IT Consultants, Banks, Insurance companies, Public Sector and Government Departments.
