   Workshop on DSP Applications

(In association with Innovation Communication Systems, Hyderabad)

INTRODUCTION:

C-DAC Hyderabad has established an Embedded Systems Laboratory consisting of 8051, AVR, RABBIT, Motorola, PIC and ARM Micro controllers and DSP Kits with relevant software tools and has vast experience in handling projects such as Modem Realization, Processing Real Time Audio Signals, Low Bit Rate Encoding using DSP Processors. C-DAC Hyderabad also has a well-established lab for VLSI Design and Mentor Tools for HDL Simulation and Synthesis and Tanner Backend Tools. The Centre has undertaken projects on HDLC Controllers, CAN Controller, PCI, USB Interface and Digital Filters and also possesses capabilities to provide training on real-time operating systems (RTLinux, Micro-COS)

Innovation Communications Systems (ICS) Limited, established in 1988 is a technology driven organization with a focus on telecommunications, data communications and Corporate Telephony Integration. The customers of ICS include major cellular operators, defence organizations such as DRDL, ECIL & BEL and private industrial units. The technologies developed by ICS include Voice Compression systems, Audio Surveillance systems and Text to Speech Compression systems. Amongst the projects, successfully completed are 60 Channel ADPCM TRANSCODER, 120 Channel ADPCM TRANSCODER, Electronic Relay Sets, Interactive Voice Response Systems (IVRS) to name a few. ICS has ISO 9001:2000 certifications for both hardware manufacturing and software development.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

The spectrum of applications of DSP extends to Automobile, Image Processing, Speech Recognition, Artificial Intelligence, Tele-Communications, Process Control and so on. There is a huge potential of DSP in the field of Wireless Communications, hence understanding DSP and its applications has become the need of the day.

The workshop was intended to give the participants a focused view on the role played by DSP in the fields of Audio and Video Signal Processing and Wireless Technologies. The pedagogy included lectures, discussions and hands on training using Analog Devices Kits.
