Course Objective

Information Technology (IT) has become the nerve center for today's commerce transactions, Government functioning, manufacturing, law & order, high-end research and other strategically important areas such as space and military. Moreover the strategic and privacy value of the information flowing through the computer networks of any organization makes it very important to see that this information is not stolen, tampered or opened to unauthorized access. The security of the information and the information resources cannot just be entrusted to the technology alone. We need to reach a hybrid solution integrated with human and technology factor into it. Most of the breaches occur because of the lack of awareness to the user and ignorance of the security mechanisms and policies.

Most of the security breaches can be averted if we can configure our networks and systems with the basic security mechanisms that are built into the software and hardware components such as operating system, web server, router etc. Lack of awareness to these built in security mechanisms or negligence in configuring it results in weak cyber infrastructure prone to host of vicious attacks. In view of the above C-DAC has planned a 5-day training programme for the system administrators to configure their systems with adequate security. The course is designed to focus on both the conceptual and the practical aspects of the security features

About C-DAC

Established in March 1988, as a Scientific Society of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (formerly The Department of Electronics), Government of India, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is primarily an R & D institution involved in the design, development and deployment of advanced Electronics and Information Technology (IT) based solutions including a range of high performance parallel computers known as the PARAM series. C-DAC, Hyderabad centre is involved in the research activities in the areas of e-Security, e-Learning, Supply Chain Management, Open Source Software, VLSI and Embedded Systems Design.

C-DAC through its various centres, including Hyderabad, is focussing on developing e-Security solutions in different areas like VPN solutions, end systems security, IDS, OS-level security etc.
Hyderabad Centre has developed an end systems security solution "ENSAFE". The center is also identified as Participating Institute under Information Security Education Awareness (ISEA) program as part of Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. A Network Security Concept Lab is established for training and demonstrating various security solutions to the user agencies. The e-Security team of the centre is keen to share their expertise gained through their work experience during this training. We have already conducted six training programmes on same lines to the Security Officers, System Support and Administrators from reputed Government, Defense and Banking Sectors.
