   One Week Workshop on Geoinformatics  
 

AUGUST 6- 11, 2001

The weeklong workshop aimed to provide conceptual knowledge on GIS and related fields and hands-on training in the use of GIS software. The interactive sessions employed a variety of teaching methods to present Geoinformatics technology. The pedagogy included lectures, tutorials, discussions and case studies aimed at familiarizing participants with the emerging technologies. Applications of Geoinformatics, which are mainly oriented to real world management problems pertaining to natural and man-made environments, were analyzed through appropriate case studies in various development contexts. Hands-on training was provided on PCI software (Geomatica, SPANS, EASI/PACE). The course was designed for persons familiar with Window environment. Modules included in the workshop were:
