Under the European Union
(EU) 6th Framework Programme for Research (FP6), and an
S&T Agreement between EU and India, interests were solicited
from Indian Research organizations to participate in the
following areas:
- Information Society Technology
- Life Science, Genomics and Biotechnology
for Health
- Nanotechnologies, intelligent materials
and new production processes
- Aeronautics and Space
Based on the expression of interest and in depth evaluation
by independent experts and their credibility, organizations
are chosen to receive EU support as the selected best research
partners of the consortium.
EvoNet, the European Network
of Excellence in Evolutionary Computing, promotes collaborative
research in above areas, as an instrument of FP6.
EvoNet has granted
membership to HPC Business Computing Group (HBCG), C-DAC
as an industrial node. C-DAC is in fact the only industrial
node in Asia-Pacific region.
The EvoNet Network
of Excellence brings together active European researchers
and practitioners in the field of evolutionary computing.
Originally set up in 1996 with European Commission funding,
the EvoNet network provides coordination, support and a
web-based infrastructure for research and training activities,
helping to share European expertise in evolutionary computing
and to stimulate greater commercial interest in collaborative
projects. There are currently around 1200 members in approximately
150 EvoNet nodes.
By joining EvoNet,
C-DAC is now listed amongst the most distinguished names
in the field of Evolutionary Computing. Some famous industrial
nodes of the EvoNet network are:
As C-DAC is going
to work on IGrid project, this partnership will help in
our accessing the research going on at some of the best
organizations in Europe in Evolutionary Computing - covering
Genetic Algorithms, Neural networks, Financial modeling,
Simulation of intricate processes/interactions.
