The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai and C-DAC's National Multimedia Resource Centre (NMRC), Pune, were sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, to produce two CD ROMs on the Life and Work of the Indian Mathematical Genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920).

Contents of CD Part I:

CD ROM, Part I, contains the biographical details of Srinivasa Ramanujan in multimedia format along with the scanned contents of his original Notebooks and Collected Papers. It also contains video interviews of eminent mathematicians and biographical articles on Ramanujan. The following are the contents:

  • Biographical Details (with narration and images )
  • Original Notebooks of Ramanujan
  • Collected Papers of Srinivasa Ramanujan
  • 59 Questions and Answers of Ramanujan

The CD ROM has a collection of rare photographs (more than 150), video clips of places of interest like the house of Ramanujan (now a Museum) in Kumbakonam and Namakkal. A voiceover narrates the biographical contents of the CD ROM. This has been designed to inspire students and create an interest in even non-mathematicians to generate an interest in learning about the work of Ramanujan.

Contents of CD Part II:

CD ROM, Part II, besides containing the original Notebooks of Ramanujan and his Collected Papers, also features the five volume work of Bruce C. Berndt entitled: "Ramanujan's Notebooks". Now it is possible to access both the original entries in the Notebooks and the work of Berndt on each one of them. The following are the contents:
