Following are the hardware and software resources currently available at NPSF. These are continuously upgraded to address the requirements as they emerge.

HARDWARE RESOURCES

• PARAM 10000 - A Cluster of 40 Sun Ultra 450 workstations, running on Solaris 2.6. Each workstation in the cluster has 4 Ultra Sparc CPUs (300 MHz each) and Random Access Memory ranging from 512 MB to 4 GB. The cluster has a total disk storage space of about 544 GB.
• Sun Ultra 60 Server - A high-end Graphics Visualization terminal with support of dual monitors.
• Sun Ultra 2 Servers - Visualization Terminals for PARAM 10000. Altogether six such terminals are currently available.
• Various PCs/Workstations used as consoles to PARAM 10000.
• A Backup Tape Library used to take backup of user data on PARAM 10000.
• A Laser Printer.

SOFTWARE RESOURCES

Operating System
The Operating System of PARAM 10000 is Solaris 2.6 which supports multithreading and multiprocessing. This System V-style Unix provides a familiar development environment to the users. Each workstation in the PARAM 10000 cluster runs on the Solaris 2.6 Operating System. Due to this reason much of the software available in Solaris environment becomes readily available on PARAM 10000 also.
