   Bangalore to host International Computing meet

The prestigious annual High Power Computing-Asia, (HPC-Asia) international conference-cum-exhibition will be held in Bangalore in December.

This high profile four-day event in the Asia Pacific rim will see a galaxy of national and international computing scientists, engineers, industry leaders, academia, faculty, students amongst others.

The conference - HPC Asia 2002 - which will focus on the latest trends in high performance computing and communication technologies, systems and scientific, has been brought to the country by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), the premier scientific institution and the pioneer behind the PARAM series of next generation parallel supercomputers.

Briefing reporters about the event, C-DAC Executive Director, Shri. R.K. Arora and Director Shri. S.C. Purohit said an industry and research exhibition would showcase the latest strides in the computing field.

The conclave would also feature invited talks on HPC, keynote address by specialists on HPC implementation and panel discussion.

The aim is to provide an excellent opportunity for companies engaged in IT and related fields to accentuate new technologies and interact with a wide spectrum of technology experts from various countries.

Co-hosted by various scientific institutions in the country, Shri. Arora said invited scientists and engineers under the aegis of the Indo-US Forum on Science & Technology would share their experiences on developments in these areas specially - future trends in Parallel Architectures, High Performance Networking and Computing, Data Analysis and Management, Scientific Visualization and Computational Modeling for Bioinformatics, to promote and initiative joint collaborative development programmes.

The meet, to be held between December 16 - 19, 2002, has Bell Labs Consultant Shri. Arun Netravali, IISc. Director, Shri. Goverdhan Mehta, Union Information Technology Minister, Shri. Pramod Mahajan among host of others as patrons and co-chairs spearheading the various committees.

Incidentally, HPC Asia, comes to Bangalore after being held earlier in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, China and Australia.
