The Centre for Development
of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
has launched another multilingual product iplugin a web application development tool for Indian Languages.
It is an offering based on
C-DAC's most popular Graphics and Intelligence based
Script Technology (GIST).
The application areas
of iplugin include, developing eMail applications, interactive
chat facility on the web in the language of the users
choice, a scheduler that assists in task management,
a specialized Indian Language calendar and an Indian
language ticker amongst other far reaching applications.
iplugin supports Indian languages such as Hindi, Marathi,
Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali,
Oriya, Assamese, using specially designed and attractive
fonts has over the years revolutionized the use of Indian
Languages for an extensive range of computer applications.
In keeping abreast of the latest technologies worldwide,
GIST has now developed the technology for the use and
implementation of Indian languages on the web.
GIST technology enables
the user to realize the full potential of the Internet
in creating web content for front and back end Internet
solutions in an Indian language. iplugin from C-DAC
is one tool that provides a comprehensive solution for
the web in an Indian Language.
GIST also provides
off the shelf software packages for content creation,
aesthetic Dynamic fonts which facilitate a web surfer
to view Indian language content without the need to
download fonts and other web development tools for messaging
and interactive e-commerce applications.
A series of seminars
have been organized in major cities in India to demonstrate
and familiarize developers with iplugin and its applications
for use on the web.
