The
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
launched the multimedia rendered CD Title of Dnyaneshwari,
the most profound and illustrative commentary in Marathi
by Sant Dnyaneshwar on the Bhagwad Gita at the International
Workshop titled Achieving Connectivity for the Rural
Poor in India at Vidya Pratishthan Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), Baramati, recently.
C-DAC has taken up
the task of digitization and presentation of the Dnyaneshwari
using multimedia technology, as part of its initiative
in documenting and disseminating Indian Heritage, as
part of the Digital Library project sponsored by the
Department of Information Technology, Government of
India.
C-DAC's National Multimedia
Resource Centre (NMRC)
has been engaged in the multimedia authoring, editing
of musical recitation, text entry and integration of
the contents of Dnyaneshwari for the last 2 years in
collaboration with Yashodhan Publication, Pune. The
first volume of the CD has been completed and includes
12 Chapters of the Dnyaneshwari and Bhagvad Gita. The
CD includes translations and musical recitation with
accurate pronunciations of Marathi and Sanskrit Verses
by Sri Sakhare Maharaj. The textual presentation is
made attractive by using specially designed Devnagari
fonts. Additionally, three metaphors have been visualized
and rendered in the CD. All the contents are presented
with an attractive user interface, multiple bookmarks
and annotations provided in the CD.
With a view to proliferate
the use of multimedia to the masses, C-DAC has successfully
developed a range of popular multilingual computing
(GIST)
and multimedia products over the years.
