The ambitious project
of the Inspector General of Registration and Stamps
(IGRS) guaranteeing registration of documents within
30 minutes, with digitalized thumb impressions and images
of the registering parties, is poised to take off on
Monday.
All 359 sub-registrar
offices across the state will go digital simultaneously,
IGRS Dr. Nitin Kareer said, adding that "this is the
first instance that time standards are set for documents
registering."
Mr. Kareer was speaking
at a demonstration of the computerized registration
to Pune Promoters' and Builders' Association members
and practicing lawyers here today. The software developed
by C-DAC technologists was successfully tested at the
Haweli 4 sub-registrar's office, Mr. Kareer said.
The project has been
developed on build-operate-transfer basis with private
business partnership involving trained manpower. IGRS'

IGRS' private business partners would invest for the
hardware and trained manpower in all the eight revenue
divisions in the state, Mr. Kareer said, adding that
the operative costs would be met through service charges.
The project envisages
63 varieties of documents described under Bombay Stamp
Act. The IGRS has already made available a ready reckoner
on property valuations and stamp duties at its website www.mahaigr.org,
he said.
