With embedded technologies
gradually gaining importance and India projected to
play an important role in this emerging technology solutions
space, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
(C-DAC),
a Scientific Society under the Ministry of Communications
and Information Technology, Government of India, has
designed and launched a course in Embedded System Design.
The Executive Director
of C-DAC, Shri. R.K. Arora, said the course is designed
with equal emphasis on hardware and software and is
aimed at gearing up electronic design engineers to meet
the needs of telecom, power, consumer durables and other
related industries in the design and development of
the embedded systems.
This new tech course
being simultaneously launched in the country in Hyderabad
and Bangalore, will be extended to other centres gradually.
This Diploma in Embedded System Design (DESD)
will be a five-month full time course consisting of
seven modules and will be industry relevant project.
The course structure continuously evaluates the performance
of the students' work through assessments and tests,
he said.
While the daily session
comprises a two-hour classroom exposure followed by
a four hour lab work which has been designed with inputs
from some of the major players in embedded technologies.
Each student is assigned an industry relevant project
during the period.
C-DAC has designed
the course over a nine-month period based on interaction
with industry players. C-DAC's Advanced Computing Training
School (ACTS)
is dedicated to nurturing talent and bringing out professionals
in this emerging space through design and delivery of
various processes.
