C-DAC
has established a VLSI Technology Lab at its Hyderabad
Centre which was inaugurated by Shri. P.V. Jayakrishnan,
Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology, Govt. of India here today.
The VLSI Lab is expected
to cater to the development of manpower in the region
for this niche segment of Information Technology. The
Centre will shortly launch a Postgraduate Diploma
in VLSI Design, for Graduates and Postgraduates
in Electronics Engineering. Further, it is also planning
to provide turnkey solutions to the IT Industry and
various Government organizations.
C-DAC, with its headquarters
in Pune and offices in Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad
is well known for its indigenous development of the
PARAM series of Supercomputers, Multilingual Technologies
based on GIST and Advanced
Computing Training. It is highly respected among
Government organizations and is recognized as the organization
responsible for making India one of the few nations
in the world capable of manufacturing supercomputers.
It has played a key role in development of indigenous
technologies for Advanced Computing and proliferation
of Information Technology in India through multilingual
technology solutions, turnkey projects and manpower
development at various levels.
C-DAC became operational
in Hyderabad a year ago with an objective to participate
in the development of IT in Andhra Pradesh. It started
its Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS), and is
currently recognised as the Virtual Centre for the prestigious
Army Institute of Information Technology being setup
in Hyderabad shortly. It is also offering short-term
training courses in Database Management, Internet and
Intranet Technologies.
