A PARAM
10000 (6.4 Gflops peak performance) has been installed
at the Computer Centre, of the Indian Institute of Technology
(IIT), Delhi recently, under the Memorandum of Understanding
between the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and
the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
The C-DAC faculty interacted with researchers and familiarized
them for the optimum use of the system by conducting
a workshop. Research scientists from various departments
like Applied Mechanics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics
and Atmospheric Sciences interacted and had a hands-on
session for parallelization strategies. Various capabilities
of PARAM 10000 were also demonstrated. Discussions were
carried out with the principal investigators of the
projects from IIT, Delhi, to finalize the review process
of multi disciplinary applications.
Prof. R.S. Sirohi,
Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, reviewed
the process of the PARAM 10000 installation, interactions
for scientific applications and coordination with C-DAC.
He appreciated the support extended by the Department
of Information Technology for such purposes in the area
of High Performance Computing.
