Pune, Feb 9, 2001
The
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, is now
equipped with a PARAM
10000 parallel computing system (6.4 Gflops peak)
in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between
C-DAC and IIT, Kanpur. This project, sponsored by the
Department of Information Technology and endorsed by
the Ministry of Human Resources Development facilitates
the use of the PARAM for scientific
and engineering applications and help solve real
life applications.
Prof. K.A. Padmanabhan,
Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Prof.
S.K. Agarwal, Head, Computer Centre and Prof. Gautam
Biswas, Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT, Kanpur,
interacted closely with the C-DAC faculty and encouraged
this joint collaborative program. A Workshop was conducted
by the C-DAC faculty to familiarize the faculty and
students of IIT, Kanpur, of the usage of PARAM 10000
and its capabilities. Shri. R.K. Arora, Executive Director,
C-DAC, has expressed the hope that this interaction
will be very fruitful and provide new dimensions to
research activities in the technological developments
and industrial product improvements.
The
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, was the 9th
Premier Institute where PARAM 10000 has been installed
under this program.
