A PARAM
10000 system (6.4 Gflops peak computing power) has
been installed at the Indian Institute of Technology,
Chennai, under the Memorandum of Understanding between
C-DAC and IIT, Chennai. Research scientists and students
from various departments like Aerospace, Applied Mechanics,
Mechanical Engineering, Heat Transfer, Physics, Mathematics
and Computer Science, will be able to use this system
for the ongoing research activities of IIT, Chennai,
using PARAM 10000. The principal investigators will
use this facility to demonstrate the capabilities of
the PARAM 10000 system and interact with C-DAC. This
activity is sponsored by the Department of Information
Technology and endorsed by the Ministry for Human Resources
Development.
A three-day Workshop
was conducted at IIT, Chennai, by C-DAC members about
PARAM 10000 and its optimal utilization. Prof. C.R.
Muthukrishnan, Dy. Director, Indian Institute of Technology,
Chennai and Prof. R.Krishna Kumar, Head, Computer Centre,
interacted closely with C-DAC for this installation.
This is the tenth PARAM
10000 installation at the Premier Institute which will
be engaged in scientific and engineering research.
