C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) and the
Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT, Mumbai launched
the CFD (Computational
Fluid Dynamics) software package IIT ZEUS, during
"Techfest 2002" held at Indian Institute of Technology,
Mumbai recently.
The product was
launched in the presence of Prof. Ashok Misra, Director,
Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
IIT ZEUS is a
multipurpose Computational Fluid Dynamic software for
product design. IIT ZEUS is the confluence of various
technologies such as Computer Aided Geometric Design,
Computer Graphics, Structured and Unstructured Grid
Generation Algorithms and specific pre-and post-processing.
The special features
of IIT ZEUS include the user specific simulation, import
and export of multiple file formats, rapid digital prototyping,
and automatic 2-D and 3-D grid generation. Also IIT
ZEUS is OpenGL enabled.
IIT ZEUS is accessible
on C-DAC's PARAM
10000, which is housed at the National PARAM Supercomputing
Facility (NPSF),
and also at the premier institutes where the parallel
computing systems have been installed.
C-DAC has been a major researcher in the area of CFD.
In addition to developing efficient software packages,
PHOENICS, PAM-CRASH are also available on PARAM 10000.
IIT ZEUS will
be exclusively endorsed in India by C-DAC, with the
objective to promote the usage of the software amongst
research scientists and engineers in the broad areas
of Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Product Design
and many multi-disciplinary applications. The subsequent
version of IIT ZEUS, which incorporates three-dimensional
capabilities, will be available from December 2002.
