C-DAC, IBM to set up computing lab

The Centre for Development
of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
has joined forces with IBM to set up a High Performance Computing laboratory to
develop applications and solutions in the eGovernance,
life sciences, seismic analysis and weather forecasting
areas.
Speaking at the signing
of an MoU between the two organizations, IBM Senior
Vice-President & Group Executive (sales & distribution)
Michael Lawrie said: "We are hopeful of sharing
the solutions, developed at C-DAC's Bangalore laboratory
using Linux-ready platforms from IBM, with our global
customers."
IBM India MD Abraham
Thomas said the firm would stick to its plans for India.
