A 6.4 Gflops peak performance PARAM 10000 was installed at the Computer Centre, KREC, Surathkal, as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between KREC, Surathkal and C-DAC, Pune, recently. This project is sponsored by the Department of Information Technology (DIT) and endorsed by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). This system will be used for multidisciplinary applications in science and engineering. Certain specific research projects will also be carried out by the faculty in the area of Remote Sensing and Image Processing.

A Workshop, attended by faculty members was conducted by C-DAC at KREC, Surathkal, to familiarize users with the PARAM 10000 capability and its optimal usage. It was also proposed to submit projects in the areas of Structural Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics and Mathematical Modeling to the funding agencies.
