LILA
HINDI PRAVEEN, self-learning software was launched
by the Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri. Lal Krishna
Advani at a Hindi Day function at Vigyan Bhawan here
today. LILA HINDI PRAVEEN has been developed by the
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
and the Department of Official Language (DOL), Ministry
of Home Affairs.
Releasing the
software Shri. Advani said, "To take pride in Hindi
does not mean taking on a quarrel with English. We should
capitalize on the strength of English to enrich and
develop our languages. Technology eliminates distances
between languages and therefore we should integrate
language with technology." He lauded the efforts
made by C-DAC and the DOL in this direction.
Speaking
on the occasion Shri. R.K. Arora, Executive Director
of C-DAC, said, "Our objective is to develop all such
tools and utilities in our languages which are necessary
for developing various IT applications." He further
added, "In today's world, learning a language can give
one a competitive edge. LILA HINDI PRAVEEN is intended
for use by all those who would like to learn Hindi through
the medium of English including employees in Government
organizations, Corporate bodies as also Indians living
abroad. It would greatly aid in effective day-to-day
communication as well as in official transactions."
LILA
HINDI PRAVEEN is the second in the series of the multimedia
based self-tutoring package for learning advanced level
Hindi. The first package in the series, LILA Hindi Prabodh
has already been released earlier.
LILA HINDI PRAVEEN
is equally suitable for those who want to pursue advanced
Hindi. It is also useful for teachers who can use it
as a supplementary aid, particularly in reducing the
routine effort of administering and evaluating exercises,
teaching grammar and narrating texts with standard pronunciations
and intonation' he added.
Every lesson
has a movie running alongside the narrative. The sentences
spoken in the video get highlighted in the text facilitating
correspondence between the text lines and spoken dialogues.
Again, the 'record and compare' utility provided in
the package allows the learner to record words and sentences
in his own voice and compare them with the standard
pronunciation available in the package.
Each lesson has
the input of lesson objectives, structure exposure,
narrative text, new vocabulary, word family, grammatical
notes, structure practice, interactive exercises and
evaluation tests. The medium of instruction is English.
Hon'ble Union Minister
of State for Home Shri. I.D. Swami, Cabinet Secretary
Shri. T.R. Prasad, Home Secretary Shri. Kamal Pandey,
and Joint Secretary, Department of Official Language
