The participants in the National Children's Science Congress 2001 visited the National PARAM Supercomputing Facility (NPSF) at the Centre for the Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) on Friday (December 27), the objective being to provide students an insight into the working of the NPSF.

Commenting on this venture, Shri. R.K. Arora, Executive Director of C-DAC, said that efforts and schemes of this kind were appreciated by their organization in order to develop and nurture a scientific spirit. He said, "Participating students from all over the country were given an opportunity to get a glimpse of the activities of C-DAC and interact with our scientists during the period of the Congress."

The visitors were shown round the NPSF and also had the opportunity to see the PARAM series of supercomputers developed and designed by the C-DAC. The understanding of the applications of supercomputers was simplified through demonstrations on touch screen kiosks and briefing by the scientists working there.
