The KAVERI module is a simple
system of registering marriages.
The process will cut down time and prevent fleecing
of couples. |
Marriages might be
made in heaven, but the Stamps
and Registration Department has finally decided
to make it a happy occasion on earth for the newly-weds
by cutting down registration time to just 10 minutes.
What's more, in a rare
act of sensitivity, the certificate will now come with
a festive floral design in keeping with the mood of
the occasion.
Like all other activities
carried out by the department, registering a marriage
and obtaining a certificate is an onerous task at the
moment. While the department itself specifies that the
task could take up to a day, couples often end up running
from pillar to post trying to accede to the various
demands made by employees. But no longer.
"As part of the
new computerization module, KAVERI (Karnataka Valuation
and eRegistration), marriages will be registered and
certificates delivered within 5-10 minutes, since technically
it does not require many documents or a laborious procedure,"
department sources told The Times of India.
KAVERI, essentially
a business process re-engineering and eGovernance model with public-private partnership for realizing
100 percent automation of registration process and delivery
of registered documents within 30 minutes, has specially
incorporated, among others, a module for marriage registration
and automatic generation of certificate. The cost of
a certificate will be Rs. 20 only.
