Dated December 15, 2002
The Times of India

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has completed the development of PARAM Padma supercomputer which can perform one trillion calculations per second.

"We have completed development work on PARAM Padma, which is more powerful than the current PARAM 10000. The new supercomputer would be launched soon," Shri. R.K. Arora, Executive Director of C-DAC, said.

With its development, India will enter a select group of nations who have developed tera flop system (having the ability to perform one trillion calculations per second) indigenously.

"The US and Japan have built such systems indigenously," Shri. Arora said.
