C-DAC
has, for the third consecutive year bagged the PC Quest
Users' Choice '99 Award for its GIST software called iLEAP.
The Award was received by Prof. N. Chandrasekaran, Director, C-DAC Bangalore, at a glittering ceremony in Bangalore.
Launched in October
'98, iLEAP, a version from the LEAP family, is an intelligent,
Internet ready Indian language word processor which
can be adapted for use in as many as 13 Indian Languages.
LEAP as a Windows based language solution, has a user
base of more than fifty thousand, iLEAP is targeted
for the Small Office
Home Office (SOHO) market segment. Its versatility lies
in its ability to allow the user to send eMail messages
in any Indian language including Assamese, Bengali,
Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya,
Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu.
The factors that determined
the decision in favor of iLEAP were performance, price,
popularity, quality, support and ease of use.
