In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between University of Roorkee, Roorkee, and C-DAC, under a project sponsored by the Department of Information Technology and endorsed by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, a PARAM 10000 was installed at University of Roorkee recently. The University of Roorkee is the first University in India under this program, to have a supercomputing facility to conduct research in the broad areas of science and engineering.

A Workshop cum Training programme was conducted at the University from November 1 - 3, 2000. The principal investigators of some selected projects in the area of optimization Computational Physics, Bioinformatics and Structural Mechanics also had a close interaction with the visiting C-DAC faculty. Some of the projects will provide an important design input for the industrial products with the help of PARAM 10000 and numerical simulation strategy.

This installation of PARAM 10000 at University of Roorkee marks a major milestone under this project. During the next few months, the PARAM 10000 is scheduled to be installed at various Indian Institutes of Technology.
