The Centre for
Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
and Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ITG), a Government
of Goa State Undertaking have entered into an Memorandum
of Understanding, to implement eGovernance
solutions for the Government of Goa here today. The
MoU was signed by Shri. Ramakant Khalap, Hon'ble Minister
for IT Govt. of Goa and Shri. R.K. Arora, Executive
Director, C-DAC. Shri. S.R. Shet, Managing Director
of ITG was also present on the occasion.
With a view to
accelerate the growth of Information Technology (IT)
industries and the eGovernance program of the Government
of Goa, C-DAC's role will be to study and understand
the existing level of computerization, define the framework,
technology, architecture and standards for specific
eGovernance projects, evolve and execute technology
solutions and an information system planning framework
for implementing the eGovernance program.
The ITG in its
role will help the Government of Goa to achieve accelerated
growth of IT and execution of the eGovernance program
of the Government. The Government of Goa will utilize
C-DAC's expertise and eGovernance software for the operation
of and services provided by the departments. An eGovernance
cell will also be set up in association with ITG.
"The Government
of Goa has charted its policy for the promotion of Information
Technology with a view to build an intelligent island
state", remarked Shri. Khalap on the occasion. "This
partnership is expected to create the right facilities
to gear Goa up as the model eGoverned state, involving
the participation of the people and enabling commerce,
industry and the citizens to reap the benefits of eGovernance."
added Shri. S.R. Shet. Shri. R.K. Arora, stated that
"this MOU is designed to give a thrust to the implementation
of this policy and C-DAC looks forward to sharing its
long experience in building advanced IT solutions in
various sectors of the economy including eGovernance".
C-DAC has taken
major initiatives in the field of eGovernance and has
successfully developed and implemented solutions for
Decision
Support System based on Data
Warehousing for a multipurpose household data for
Andhra Pradesh, Computerization and Networking of Public
Works Department of Maharashtra, Maharashtra State Legislative
Assembly Council, Maharashtra Industrial Development
Corporation, Octroi, Department of Registration and
Stamps, Department of Archives, Election Commission
of Maharashtra, Hospital Information System Computerization
of Municipal Corporations in Karnataka and Laboratory
Automation for Central Power Research Institute and
Networking for a number of institutions to support data
transfer.
