

 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
 --------------------------

    * Insert the LISM CD in CDROM.(Or Download Lism.tar.gz from www.cdacinda.com)
    * If Nautilus does not open, open Nautilus or the terminal and go to 
      location /mnt/cdrom/.(Or Open the terminal emulator, untar & unzip the 
      downloaded  file, you will get "Lism" directory).
    * Double click on "InstallLism" in Nautilus. (Or make "Lism" as current 
      working directory and give the command  "./InstallLism" at shell prompt 
      in terminal). 
    * The LISM Installer will run and main window of the Installer will 
      appear on the screen.
    * The LISM Installer will ask for the path where lism to be installed. 
      The default path is your home directory. After selecting the path press
      "Next" button.
    * If you are not logged as root the installer will ask for root password for
      installing Indian fonts.
    * The installer tells the path where lism is going to be installed. Press 
      "Next" again for installing LISM.
    * On successful installation, "Installation is complete." message will come
      on the installer window. Now press "Exit" to close the installer.

      Note: After installation you will get "LISM" directory in the above 
      specified path. In the "LISM" directory you will find "Doc" directory,
      "lism" binary file, "UnInstallLism" binary file and "UnInstall.sh" shell 
      script. Also, you will get desktop shortcut for lism on your desktop.



 UNINSTALLATION:
 ---------------
    
    * Open Nautilus or the terminal.
    * Go to the location where "lism" is installed.
    * Double click on "UnInstallLism" in Nautilus or give the command 
      "./UnInstallLism at shell prompt in terminal.
    * The Lism Uninstaller will run and it's main window will appear on 
      the screen.
    * Click "Next" to unistall LISM.
    * If you ar not logged as root, the unistaller will ask for root password 
      for unistalling fonts.
    * On successful uninstallation of LISM, "LISM is Uninstalled." message will
      come on the uninstaller window. Now press "Exit" to close the uninstaller.
       

 QUICK STEP TO USE LISM:
 -----------------------

    After installing LISM you will get "lism" in the LISM directory.
    ( Its recommended to run "lism" as a user rather than as a root )

    * Start the LISM by typing ./lism at the location where LISM is installed.
      Or double click on the "LISM" icon on desktop.
    * Select the keyboard layout from the LISM Menu.
    * Open the application of your choice-gEdit, gNotePad, KOffice or 
      StarOffice.
    * Set the font in the application according to the language selected 
      through LISM.

     2 HINDI		Dvbi_ttyogesh	Bilingual
    

    * Make sure NUM LOCK should be "on" for typing in Indian scripts.
      For non Indian scripts NUM LOCk should be "off".


 LISM WITH KOFFICE:
 ------------------

    * Start KWord in KOffice
    * For setting font click on "Format" menu and select "Font" menu item.
    * In "Select Font" window select font as per the language for example if 
      the selected language is "HINDI" than select "Dvbwlttyogesh" font  and 
      in the same window set the character set to ISO8859-1. 
      Kword needs ISO8859-1 compatible font.


 NOTE:
 -----
    If LISM is running and NUM Lock is "on" you may get garbage on console or 
    in some other application, in such case switch "off" the NUM Lock. 

 MULTILINGUAL UTILITIES USAGE
 ----------------------------
    -File Converter
       This utility converters ISFOCC text file to ISCII text file and vice-versa.
       Specify the input file in "Open File" field. You can also specify the input
       file with the help of "File Selection" dialog box, for that click on "Open"
       button. Similarly, specify the output file in "Save File" field. Now, 
       set the "Input Format" option depending on the input file. Set the 
       "Output Format" option depending on the desired output. Finally press
       "Convert" button for the conversion.

    -Dictionary
      Official Language Dictionary provides you dictionary support for searching 
      the Hindi meaning of a English word.
      Specify the type of dictionary you want to search in "Select Language 
      Dictionary". Now, enter a english word you want to search or similar word 
      in "Enter English Word" field. You will get a list of similar English 
      words in "Select Word" combo box. From the box select the desired word, 
      you will get the list of phrases in "Select Phrase" combo entry. Select 
      the desired phrase you will get corresponding meaning in "Translated Words" 
      field. You can also update the dictionary. For adding a new word to 
      dictionary enter English word and corresponding Hindi words in "Add To 
      Personal Dictionary" section and press "Add" button.

   -SpellChecker
     This utility checks the spelling mistakes in a ISFOC text file. Before 
     starting this utility set the "Language" and "Font Type" ,on "LISM" main 
     window, according to the text file for which you want spellchecking. 
     Open the input file from File->Open. The content of the files will be 
     displayed. The entire file will be examined word by word. The examined 
     words word will be displayed in blue color. While examining the words, 
     for each word  you will get certain option depending on if the word is 
     valid or in valid. For each miss-spelled word you will get Suggestion list.
     The replaced word will be displayed in red color.
