C-DAC, Pune has been globally recognized as a winner in the Innovate for Impact Use Case category at the AI for Good Global Summit 2025. This prestigious event took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 8th to 11th. The summit was organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with over 40 UN sister agencies and co-convened with the Government of Switzerland.
The winning use case, an “AI-based Virtual Yoga Instructor for Good Health,” was recognized for its innovative use of artificial intelligence to promote wellness and preventive healthcare. This initiative utilizes AI models and multi-modal datasets to provide real-time, posture-aware yoga instruction. This makes high-quality wellness guidance both accessible and inclusive for communities everywhere.
The Innovate for Impact workshop highlighted global successes in leveraging AI for social good, focusing on equity, open tools, collaborative research, and impactful real-world applications. Since its launch, this initiative garnered significant global attention, receiving:
- 218 use case submissions from 38 countries.
- 118 scholar applications from 35 countries.
Following a thorough evaluation, 53 use cases were shortlisted, with 12 ultimately receiving certificates of outstanding achievement at the workshop.
The selection criteria included clarity of objectives, alignment with global sustainable development goals (SDGs), demonstrable impact, potential for scalability, and relevance to ITU's mandate.
