C-DAC, Pune has been recognized for its leadership in Artificial Intelligence, as its initiative has been honored with the Technology Sabha Award 2026 in the AI category. The award was received by Dr. Shashi Pal Singh, Scientist F and Project Director at C-DAC Pune, during the 39th edition of the Technology Sabha organized by Express Computers held on February 27th, 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C), Government of Telangana.

This recognition acknowledges Dr. Shashi Pal Singh visionary leadership and his pioneering contributions in advancing Artificial Intelligence, to digitally transform the government translation ecosystem. His team has undertaken several initiatives to streamline and modernise translation processes across government institutions by enabling efficient, accurate, and large-scale translation across Indian languages. These efforts significantly contribute to strengthening the implementation of the Official Language Policy while promoting the adoption of indigenous language technologies in the official work of the Central Government, State Governments, and Union Territories.

The system developed under this initiative facilitates seamless translation between Hindi and 15 Indian languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, representing the first languages of various states and Union Territories, ensuring that citizens are not disadvantaged due to limited knowledge of English or Hindi and enabling more inclusive and accessible governance.
