In a significant step towards strengthening India's cybersecurity ecosystem and fostering industry-academia collaboration, C-DAC Delhi, established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Cyber Security at the Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Meerut. The initiative is aimed at creating a state-of-the-art ecosystem for cybersecurity education, advanced research, innovation, and industry-oriented skill development to prepare a future-ready cybersecurity workforce.
The Centre of Excellence was inaugurated by Shri Jitendra Singh, Scientist G & Centre Head, C-DAC Delhi, along with Shri Gaurav Agarwal, Vice Chairman, MIET Group of Institutions, in the presence of senior officials from C-DAC and MIET, faculty members, researchers, industry experts, and students. The event marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration to strengthen cybersecurity education, research, and innovation through practical learning and institutional partnerships.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Jitendra Singh highlighted that cybersecurity has become a strategic national priority extending beyond information technology to encompass economic resilience, digital trust, and national security. He emphasized that with increasing digital adoption across sectors such as banking, healthcare, energy, transportation, manufacturing, and governance, there is an urgent need to develop highly skilled cybersecurity professionals capable of protecting the nation's critical digital infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the C-DAC–MIET collaboration would contribute significantly to building a robust cybersecurity talent pool aligned with the vision of Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gaurav Agarwal, Vice Chairman, MIET Group of Institutions, stated that the CoE would bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by providing students and researchers with hands-on exposure to emerging cybersecurity technologies. He reiterated MIET's commitment to developing the centre into a leading hub for cybersecurity education, research, innovation, and technology development.
During the programme, Shri Apoorva Kohli, Scientist E & Group Head (ACTS), C-DAC Delhi, highlighted C-DAC's ongoing efforts in capacity building and international collaborations in cybersecurity research. He informed participants about specialized training programmes offered through C-DAC ACTS and emphasized the centre's role in creating globally competent cybersecurity professionals.
The C-DAC team presented the roadmap for the CoE, outlining proposed training and research activities in critical domains, including Network Security, Web and Mobile Application Security, Secure Coding Practices, AI-driven Cyber Defence, Incident Response, Risk Management, Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Assessment, and Cyber Threat Intelligence. These programmes are designed to provide students, faculty, and researchers with practical exposure to contemporary cybersecurity tools, techniques, and best practices while encouraging innovation and applied research.
The establishment of the CoE reflects C-DAC Delhi's continued commitment to strengthening cybersecurity education, promoting industry-academia collaboration, and building national capacity in emerging technologies. The initiative is expected to create new opportunities for advanced learning, collaborative research, innovation, and professional skill development, contributing to a secure and resilient digital ecosystem for the country.
