IPR Awareness Session

Corporate IPR, C-DAC, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry, organized an awareness session on Intellectual Property Rights on April 21st, 2026, in Thiruvananthapuram. The programme was held in observance of World Intellectual Property Rights Day, which is marked each year on April 26.

The inaugural session was presided over by Shri Magesh Ethirajan, Director General, C-DAC.Shri Rajesh K R, Scientist G &Head, Corporate IPR, C-DAC welcomed the gathering. Ms Bincy Baby, Chairperson, CII Thiruvananthapuram Zone made a special address on the occasion.Dr Subhash Joshi T G, Scientist F & Principal, ER&DCI Institute of Technology proposed the vote of thanks.

The sessions covered a range of key topics in intellectual property, featuring insights from leading experts in the field. Ms Mahalakshmi R, Executive Officer–IPR at the CII Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre, opened with an introduction to intellectual property rights. This was followed by a session on intellectual property strategy and filing by Shri Balaji P., Deputy Head of IP Practice at Surana & Surana International Attorneys.Shri Praveen Raj R. S., Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, spoke on IP monetization and technology transfer, while Shri Manoj Radhakrishnan, Senior Patent Attorney at Ericsson, discussed defensive and offensive patent strategies. The series concluded with a session on IP Catalyst and support for IP management by Shri Parimal Khade, Joint Director at C-DAC, Pune.The valedictory note was given by Shri Prakash R, Scientist F, Intelligent Transportation & Networking Group, C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram.

The session witnessed the participation of over 80 delegates from across C-DAC, government organizations and startups who had detailed interactions with the speakers on various aspects of IPR. The sessions were streamed live in C-DAC YouTube channel with viewership up to 543, demonstrating strong interest and engagement.
