On August 7th, 2025, a delegation from C-DAC Patna, including Shri. Pradeep Nandan, Shri. Siddhant, and Shri. Aman Kumar visited the National Research Centre for Makhana (NRCM), Darbhanga to explore how cutting-edge technology can address the real challenges faced by farmers in Makhana cultivation.

The C-DAC team presented a prototype of smart monitoring technology to Dr. Manoj Kumar, Senior Scientist, NRCM Darbhanga, showcasing its ability to deliver real-time, precise advisories on irrigation, nutrient application, pest and disease control, and yield optimization. Dr. Kumar appreciated the innovation, describing it as a path-breaking initiative with the potential to reshape Makhana cultivation into a more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable enterprise.

The visit also included a tour of the NRCM Makhana farm and the Processing Laboratory, where the delegation gained practical insights into cultivation practices, field-level difficulties, and post-harvest opportunities for value addition.

The discussions concluded with a shared commitment by C-DAC and NRCM to jointly develop innovative digital solutions for the entire Makhana value chain from cultivation to processing. This collaboration marks an important step in creating a technology-enabled, sustainable future for Makhana farming, promising higher productivity, profitability, and resilience for farmers.
