An MoU was signed on August 12th, 2025, at ORGI, New Delhi, formalizing an agreement between ORGI and C-DAC regarding the implementation of the project titled "Design, Development, Deployment and Maintenance of Web & Mobile Applications for the ensuing digital census of India".
The MoU was signed by Ms. Hemlata Sindhura, Joint Director & Head of Office, ORGI and Shri. Jitendra Singh, ScientistF & Centre Head, C-DAC Delhi in presence of Shri. Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, RGI & CC, Govt. of India; Shri. Biswajit Das, DDG,ORGI; Shri. Subhash Dasgupta, Deputy Registrar General, ORGIand Shri. Naveen Kumar Jain, Consultant, C-DAC Delhi, Shri. Sunil Kumar, ScientistE, C-DAC Delhi &Shri.Chandan Kumar Goyal, Scientist-D, C-DAC DelhiCensus of India is a decennial exercise for collecting comprehensive demographic, socio-economic, and housing data from households across India through the Enumerators appointed for the purpose that canvas the approved questionnaire (Schedule) from households. Finalisation of questionnaires, methodology of data collection is carried out by ORGI under the stewardship of Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.
C-DAC has been engaged by ORGI since January 2025 as System Integrator - Software Services (SI-S) to develop the necessary digital tools/products for conducting the Census in digital mode, for a projected population of 143.6 Crore living in approximately 35 Crore households as of March1st, 2027, where necessary Mobile Apps and Web Apps will be developed for data collection, Management Information System, namely Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) web portal is being developed for Managing and Monitoring the Census Operation.
