Upskilling Law Enforcement & Judiciary in Cyber Security and Forensics

A comprehensive 4-day training and certification programme titled "Cyber Security and Forensics Training for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and Judiciary" was successfully conducted across three levels: Level 1: March10th - 13th, 2025, Level 2: May 19th - 22nd, 2025 and Level 3: June23rd - 26th, 2025. This programme, titled "Generating Highly Skilled & Certified Cyber Security Professionals (CISOs)," is a collaborative effort under Phase-III of the ISEA Project by MeitY. It aims to build a robust training and certification mechanism for CISOs, Deputy CISOs, and their teams across government and industry. This initiative is partnered with the Central Detective Training Institute, Hyderabad, which serves as the training wing of the Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India.

55 officers from the field of Cyber Forensics,Police Department and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and the Judiciary, representing their respective sectors/organizations attended the training programme of Level - 1.

38 officers from the field of Cyber Forensics,Police Department and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and the Judiciary, representing their respective sectors/organizations attended the training programme for Level - 2.

20 officers from the field of Cyber Forensics,Police Department and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and the Judiciary, representing their respective sectors/organizations attended the training program of Level - 3.

All the level's Cyber Security and Forensics Training is designed to equip LEAs and judicial officers with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary to handle digital evidence, analyze cyber incidents, and ensure legal compliance. This training focuses on key concepts such as cybercrime investigation methodologies, digital evidence handling, cyber laws, and forensic tools used in modern investigations.

The course also featured live demonstrations, practical lab exercises and tools where the participants will gain insights into cyber threat landscapes, investigative techniques, and the legal aspects of digital forensics. The training also emphasizes the importance of chain of custody, ensuring digital evidence is collected, preserved, and presented in court with integrity.Their performance in these activities was evaluated, and certificates were awarded based on their performance.

This training initiative was a resounding success, conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. P. R. Lakshmi Eswari, Scientist G & Centre Head, C-DAC Hyderabad. Training Methodology used

The training methodology incorporated a blend of group discussions, interactive activities, live quizzes,real time case studies and problem-solving sessions by judiciary officials, lab sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on experience with crime scene simulation exercise.
